Snapshots of My Week {The Birdie Weekly}

I've decided to do a weekly Monday post where I can share my ten highlights of the previous week with you all, be it books (likely), cake (more likely), or anything else cute and random.

 1. So I went on a bit of a post-Christmas shopping spree to Westfield on Saturday and came back with bags full of leather. And by that I mean that I got some striped leather hot pants and a leather skirt, so get your kinky minds out of the gutter.

2. Said shopping spree also resulted in me getting the most gorgeous new coat and OH MY GOD YOU GUYS, I love it so much. I look like a farmer on the catwalk. And, uhm, that's obviously a good thing.

3. I've been obsessed with these new flower fairy lights that are decorating my fit-to-burst bookshelf. Look how pretty they are! Fairy lights automatically jazz up any room they're in. They're fly like that.

4. My bookmark collection seems to be growing. I now have ten (the one I'm currently using not pictured). My brother got me the cutest ying yang one and my parents have this thing now where they try to buy me comedy ones whenever they go away.

5. I'm a huge fan of Thai food and we went to our regular Thai place last night, which a friend of my parents owns. And LOOK, they carved me a flower from fruit and a butterfly from a carrot so my spring rolls looked that much more delicious. They also have this thing where, instead of having bouquets of flowers on the table, they'll carve them all from fruit and veg. It's so cool.

6. My friends and I are kind of obsessed with Yankee candles, so my best friend bought me the Sugared Apple one and it smells like baking and rainbows and the dreams of children (seriously it's that good).

7. Part of my New Year's resolutions was to eat better. Not to lose weight (because, let's face it, none of us ever see that through), but to just start eating more organic food and be healthier in general. I made an amazing salad the other day with peppers, courgettes, asparagus and halloumi cheese. It was to die for!

8. I FINALLY got one of those ear cuff things (from Forever 21, of course. Since apparently I live there now). I've been wearing it all week and it goes with everything.

9. I got to have my favourite ice cream this week, which is a treat because I can only ever find it in Thai restaurants and never in the stores. It's Thai Tea flavoured and if you haven't tried it then I'm sorry but you will never be satisfied with life until you do.

10. And lastly I wanted to share my love for this amazing series I just discovered. I devoured the first book The Darkest Minds last night and it left me a broken woman. The ending / last few chapters of this got to me more than TFiOS did. Seriously. Bravo, Alexandra Bracken, bravo. I know Never Fade won't disappoint!

So that's my week in pictures! Unsurprisingly, food was a big contender (which, come on, we all knew would happen).

So, did anything cool happen to you guys this week? Have you ever tried Thai Tea ice cream? Can you send me some?

I love how pretty your book shelf with the fairy lights is too. I have a massive bookmark collection too, most are the free ones you get when you order from TBD and I love them haha. Good luck with eating better too!

    1. Right?! First the thing with Chubbs, which literally broke me, then LIAM. It was too fricken much for me to handle!

Never Fade was good :D I liked Darkest Minds better, because it was more character-central and Never Fade is more action-focused, but it's still a really great book.

  4. Wow -- I would love to try Thai Tea ice cream. That sounds amazing.
The end of Darkest Minds was really traumatic, and I still haven't read Never Fade, even though I've had an ARC since last May. I need to get going and face the trauma!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics

    1. Jen it's the best thing ever! I demand you go to your nearest Thai place and try it immediately XD

All of the trauma from Darkest Minds is made endlessly better in Never Fade. Read it! I just finished and it was really good. A lot of action!

  6. I love the flower fairy lights!! That is so pretty and those bookmarks look great too. Nice finds! I have the resolution to eat better too. College food isn't always the best so I've been cooking some of my own food in the dorms now. Sounds like you had a great week =)

    1. I was the same my first couple of years at uni, but after that I got really into cooking and making my own meals. My third year I really branched out and stopped being so fussy / eating junk food and found great recipes :D Don't be lulled in by the chicken dippers and chips haha.
