Recapping July: What Last Month Had To Offer

What July meant for me:
Last month wasn't without its ups and downs, both professionally and personally, but I feel like I've ended the month on a high. There were a lot of opportunities within reach; some didn't pan out, some did, and some I'm still awaiting hopefully to see the fruits of. I'm optimistic though, and I know August is going to be full of good things.

In other news, I made some leeway with my novel, then promptly came to a standstill again (oh, the strain of trying to ensure so many plot points are well-developed), then I proceeded to come up with about eight ideas for other books I wanted to write and my head subsequently exploded.
So, swings and roundabouts really. Roll on August.

Songs of the month:

Weirdly for me, I barely listened to any music this month (what is going on?!). These were the five most played on my Driving Playlist though!

 Shows of the month:

It may shock you all but, yes, I am known to watch a British show from time to time (got to stay loyal to my roots and all!). I love that The Mill got a second series; such a great show with so many layers. Weekly viewing for me and the mother!

Obsession:
It's a spread. Made of caramelised biscuits. As a human being I am incapable of being immune to its deliciousness.

So that was my month! How did July treat you?

Allie is a Pimm's-obsessed reader, who dreams of road tripping over America, learning to surf & becoming fluent in all the languages of her heritage (which, sadly, does not include Elvish). If she's not reading or blogging, you can find her catching up on Teen Wolf, or reigning supreme with Scrabble/Mario Kart. Stalk her on twitter, instagram or goodreads.

  1. August better be something along the lines of amazing since it's mah birthdaaaay *sings* I hope August is good to both of us :) EVERYONE IS WRITING A NOVEL LOL. I need to start one asap. Good luck with yours! Review wise your month was pretty successful when you think about the ratings. Yay :) AND YESSSSSS. YOU LOVED DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT I'M SO HAPPY. I need to play these songs later :) I haven't heard of The Mill. Hmmm. Should I watch it? "It's a spread. Made of caramelised biscuits. As a human being I am incapable of being immune to its deliciousness." WORRRRRRrrrrd. July was good. Finally read over 5k pages :) Lots of reviewing and read Thrive by Krista and Becca which was all kinds of epic as per usual. And I made a pen pal ;) You know.. you probably don't know her. She's very boring and not really worth my time.. Not even sure if I'll reply... Though in reality it's vice versa and I AM TOO EXCITED TO EXPRESS MAHSELF. Now, now.. if only this letter arrived like today?!..

    1. You are not getting a present. Your only present will be my love and respect (well, minus the respect MWAHAHAHA). What day is your birthday?? Maybe I'll organise a parade with Dylan O'Brien on a float. A FLOAT.
Days of Blood and Starlight was beyond awesome. It was LONG and a struggle to get through but MAN IT WAS SO GOOD OMG. I need Dreams in my life right this second.
A pen pal? Psh. Sounds so lame. I bet her letters are crap. NOT THAT YOU WOULD KNOW BECAUSE YOU NEVER RECEIVE THEM

  3. Oh my god why did you tell me about the spread, it sounds so unhealthy but so delicious at the same time. I'm so glad to hear that you're optimistic about the month ahead, it sounds like you approached the last month in a mature way.

    1. I think we all need to write more. I think I need a DeLorean or something, so that I have more time to get crap done!

  7. I'm sorry you had some troubles in July, but glad it ended well at least! I know this sounds weird, but August has always felt like a very positive month for me. I have no idea why, but it does. So maybe it will be good for you too, at least, I hope it will :)

Sorry about the book troubles, I feel your pain (I have been at a standstill forever. Only with no additional ideas popping in anywhere!) And I need to know more about this biscuit spread situation? It'll be like Nutella, and we'll only get it in the US fifteen years after the fact ;)

    1. I like that thought that certain months are inherently good / positive :) it's nice to think!

Actually I think the US have an equivalent to it . . . cookie spread? It's at Trader Joe's or something. I think they're very similar! So go buy it and forever be happy haha

  8. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE IDEAS. Oh gosh, that happens to me so so much. And I'm drafting like a crazy (crazier?) person this week...but I'm already cringing at the blatant plot holes I'm leaving myself. Urghhh the pain. But I refuse to edit while I draft. It's just about spewing words onto the page and fixing them later. Hehe. I hope August is an awesome month for you!! (And also, 'scuse me while I squeeee! You linked to my pizza post. THANK YOU. xD)

    1. YOUR POST THE OTHER WEEK MADE IT WORSE. I was like, 'Cait, you're inspiring me. Stop inspiring me. I need to finish one idea first!'

Of course I linked to your pizza post. It was by you. And it was about pizza. HOW COULD I NOT? ;)

  10. This sounds like it was a great month overall Allie, even though there might have been a few low points here and there. I hope you get inspired with your novel again, and that you figure a way to conquer the standstill. Thanks for sharing, and happy reading! <33

  11. I CANNOT GET Maps out of my head! Everytime I think the song is done, I hear it on the radio or someone's humming it and then it keeps playing around in my head. ARGHHHH.

Anyways good luck with your novel! You'll get your inspiration eventually ;)
