* Top Ten Tuesday * Books My Shelves Are Craving

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, where we get to reveal our top ten of whatever they chose as the weekly topic! Click here for a list of future topics.

This week's topic is books that I want but don't own yet and, man, it's one of the hardest lists yet because I want all the books. If only my shelves were big enough to actually allow that! Someone buy me a bigger bedroom? Or, you know, my own personal library? Please and thank you.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue – the third book in my absolute favourite series. I can't wait to see my Raven Boys again and there's nothing else that can be said. This is the book I'm craving most!

Dreams of Gods and Monsters – the final book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy is going to be beyond amazing. Like all of Laini Taylor's books, it'll probably be 1000 pages long, but I can't wait to get lost in this endless story again.

Winter – Winter is coming. After Cress completely nailed the ensemble cast, I'm even more excited to see what Meyer does with Winter and to find out how this story will reach its end. It's going to be one heck of a ride.

The Retribution of Mara Dyer – this has been pushed back so many times, I'm salivating to read it. I'm crossing my fingers the date isn't pushed back again because I need more Noah and I just CAN'T with this book.

Penryn & the End of Days 3 anything with more Raffe in it is okay by me. And I hope this instalment features lips. Lots of lips. Because it's been a long time coming, guys!

The Darkest Part of the Forest Holly Black has a wonderful way of making old stories feel new again and putting an eerier spin on even eerier tales. After Coldest Girl in Coldtown's unique take on vampires, I'm really excited to see what she does with this book. The premise sounds amazing!

In the Afterlight – the third book in The Darkest Minds! I need more Liam, and Chubbs and EVERYONE.

The Archived 3 – this book is a little up in the air at the moment. It's coming out, we just don't know when or in what format. But after the ambiguous way book 2 ended, I don't care how it comes out, just that it does. And quickly.

On the Fence – Kasie West writes contemporary romance like nobody else. They're short, sweet and oh-so-funny. If The Distance Between Us is anything to go by, this will be another swoony Kasie book!

Of Metal and Wishes – ghosts and wishes and complete creepiness? Yep. I'm in.

What books are you most excited for? Any new releases you can't wait any longer? Or any old books you've always wanted to read, but never got around to?

  1. YES, WE NEED ALL THESE BOOKS.

Gah, I need Blue Lily, Lily Blue so bad and Angelfall #3 and Heir of Fire and Winter (aaand Fairest) and The Retribution of Mara Dyer and sigh.

I really need to start a couple of series from the bottom five like The Archived and The Darkest Minds. I personally liked The Distance Between Us more but On the Fence is awesome, too.

    1. AND WE NEED THEM ALL RIGHT NOW.

The Darkest Minds is an amazing series – the first book completely tugged at my stone-cold heart. Aaaand I just love the idea behind The Archived – it's such an interesting premise and makes for some really cool, ghostly parts :D

I really enjoy her short fluff too :) I hope you get some of them soon! x

I also want Winter but then again, I haven't read Cress so there is that. :P But OMG Angelfall #3. I need to see Rafe and Penryn fall in love.. I mean their romance is only just beginning to develop and I reallly want to see things progress between the two. Plus Rafe *swoons*

YES FOR OF METAL AND WISHES. You need it in your life, Allie. Of Metal and Wishes was amazing and that's that. You are going to LOVE it.

Also I want to read The Darkest Part of the Forest but I don't. The kids sound scawy.

    1. THERE NEEDS TO BE KISSING. BUT NOT, BECAUSE I CAN'T HANDLE THE CONSEQUENCES. Ahhh, I'm so conflicted.

Read Cress, man! It'll blow you away. I wasn't all that keen on Scarlet, but Cress was AMAZING. Seeing everyone together finally was so cool and funny and ahh <33

Yeah, Angelfall . . . I can't handle the slowness of that burn. It needs to ignite already!

Buts me likes that Darkest Part sounds scary. I needs the thrills.

  5. On The Fence is on my list and I like how you've done some future releases and some now outs, it's a nice variety of books. People love Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, and the Darkest Minds and Archived, so I can understand why you do, I've just not gotten to them yet though.. sad times. I wish you all the luck with these books though, and I shall join you in fangirling over Winter for sure! :D

    1. Ohhh, Amanda, you have to read Daughter of Smoke & Bone, if nothing else. It's wonderful.

YES WINTER. If I don't see more Kai and Cinder in that book, I'm writing a strongly worded letter to Marissa Meyer!

  6. I'd begun to give up hope for Angelfall #3 for a while. *sigh* Why was there such a long gap?? HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE FOR SO LONG? I too am pretty much dying for Blue Lily and also Winter. And I've got Days of Blood and Starlight on reserve at the library!! EEEP. Although I've heard book #3 is huge. Like 600+ pages or something? 'Scuse me while I gulp and hide.

    1. Don't get me started on long waits. The wait for Mara Dyer was killing me, so Angelfall actually feels pretty short! THAT BEING SAID I STILL WANT IT NOW.
Blue Lily is going to be the best so far, and so will Winter. I have such faith in those authors that each book will be an even bigger improvement on the next.

Days of Blood is pretty huge itself! Like, massively. So, yeah, not surprised book 3 is also colossal. I've come to expect that from ol' Laini. It's like with Sarah J Maas and ToG; each book gets bigger!

  7. The Archived and On The Fence are both awesome! I need Winter! Can't believe the release is pushed back until november next year. *sob*

  8. Lots of great picks on here, and so many books I'm after too but need to make a dent in my current TBR first before I drown in all of the unread books!

The Raven Cycle series is one I need to get to (that's the series Blue Lily, Lily Blue is from, right?). Dreams of Gods and Monsters, The Lunar Chronicles and the Mara Dyer series are ALL on my TBR, as well as Angelfall and The Archived... In fact, I should just print your list and use it as a shopping list lol R x

    1. Yes, yes, yes! Get into The Raven Cycle series immediately (yep, that is the Blue Lily one :D). It's genuinely amazing and outstanding and every other positive adjective in the world.

You've got some amazing reads coming up when you start some of these series. They will all blow your little socks off!

  9. Can I just say... Your tastes in books are freaking awesome! I have almost every one of those series on my TBR list (I swear I will get to them soon xD), and after I finish the series I'm reading now I'm going to start Raven Boys! *squeal* ooooh the excitement!!!

    1. You may say that ;)

Ohhhh you have to tweet me your feels when you read The Raven Boys. And then when you immediately go out and buy The Dream Thieves, I want those feels too!!!! I love hearing when people start that series for the first time!

  12. I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on (Cress) Winter and the Retribution. I read the first Mara Dyer book and loved it, but just never got to the second one even though I have it. I can't seem to get my hands on Cress. Unless I buy it online or ten months for a copy to be available at the library, I don't know what else to do but wait.

All these books look awesome. :)

    1. Oh, Cress was so fantastic. I hope you get a copy soon, because it's my favourite book of the series so far. SO much awesome!

  15. I'm new to your blog, but I still noticed the design change that you made today. It's always a little weird getting accustomed to a new blog design, but I like it.

WINTER! I need that book now. I still can't believe that the release date was pushed back to November. That means that I have to wait more than one year for the final installment in the series. I guess some popular book bloggers probably won't have to wait as long because they might be able to get an ARC of Winter, but my blog isn't that big yet, and I've never even requested an ARC, much less a popular one. Sure, I have Fairest to tide me over while I wait for Winter, but it's not going to be the same. I'm sure Fairest will be interesting, but it won't tell me how the series will end. Ugh. It really is torturous.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah, I'm still getting used to it myself! But I am so in love with it :D Let me know if you have any issues!

Winter needed to be on my shelf like, yesterday. It makes me so sad to think we've had to wait so long, but I think the wait will make it even better. I'm going to end up devouring that book in one sitting!

I never thought of getting Fairest. What's it like?

      Delete
    2. Well I didn't actually get Fairest yet because it's not out yet, but it'll be out ten months before Winter is out. That's what I meant by it tiding me over. I sure hope it's a good book.

  16. Firstly, I love the new design and layout!!! :) I still need to start the Raven Boys, Penryn and Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I do plan to start them all, it's just finding the time, haha.

I recently read On the Fence and loved it, Kasie West never disappoints. She is the master of contemporary romance! :)

Still need to start The Archived and The Darkest Minds, have owned both since Christmas so really have no excuse for not getting to them.

  17. I PREORDERED THE RETRIBUTION OF MARA DYER AND I CAN'T WAIT. Apparently all preorders will come signed by the author, so YAY for that.

Winter and Penryn #3 are books that I NEED immediately in my hands.

    1. OHHHHHH! I didn't even think to do that (I suck). WHAT? I'm so pre-ordering mine. Is that for UK as well???

  19. YES to Angelfall 3. Wasn't that supposed to be out like, last year? Now it says 2015. Gr. And also, very excited for In the Afterlight! Such a pretty cover too, almost hopeful (which Ruby deserves, really!). And I just got Of Metal and Wishes, I really need to read it ASAP! Great list, I think literally every book you've listed is on my TBR!

  21. I haven't read The Raven Boys... YET. I have this pretty on my shelf, calling my name... Soon, gorgeous book. Soon.

WINTER--I WANT. Like you said, Cress had an awesome cast of characters, and I'm sure Meyer will do a great job adding more brilliant characters to the already fantastic cast.

The Darkest Part of the Forest has such a gorgeous cover! I've actually not read any book by this author that I enjoyed (The Coldest Girl in Coldtown's on my to-be-continued pile), but who wouldn't want that pretty on their shelves!?

In the Afterlight, eeeeep! Okay, okay, I haven't read Never Fade yet, but The Darkest Minds was fantastic! Liiiiiam.

THERE IS GOING TO BE A THIRD ARCHIVED BOOK? Thanks for letting me know, girl! *adds to already overflowing TBR*

I really hope you enjoy On the Fence! Kasie writes the best romances. <3

Of Metal and Wishes definitely looks fantastic! I hope it doesn't let either of us down!

Awesome list, Allie! <33 (And I totes love the new design. Hazel is amazing!)

    1. SOON SHOULD BE NOW AIMEE! *Tackles*

Winter will be AMAZING. Cress was just . . . wow. I didn't think Marissa would nail the group dynamic so well, but she just blew it out of the park.

Holly Black's a really cool author. I'm excited to see where she takes this :D Coldest Girl was a really different way of looking at vampires and there was this kiss that was O_O OHMYGOD<33

And yes there will be a third Archived book! Not sure when, but the author has said a bunch of timed she's working on it and it will definitely be out :D eeep.

      (Hazel is genuinely amazing!)

  22. I totally agree with so many of these books, especially WINTER, Of Metal and Wishes, and you also serve a good reminder to read many of these series like Raven Boys, The Darkest Minds and the rest of DOSAB! And ommggg definitely more Raffe please. Great picks lovely!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Raffee needs to be in this book more, because his lack of presence in the last one was NOT ACCEPTABLE. Haha.

Wait, wait, wait . . . you haven't read Raven Boys yet? Even after all of my fangirling over it? Jeann, don't make me throw cake at you!

  23. Great choices! I can't wait for Mara Dyer #3 (you know who BETTER BE ALIVE), Angelfall #3 (just more Raffe please and thank you), and Winter (it's pure evil that they moved the release date to Nov 2015 - really?!).

I've got On the Fence, Of Metal and Wishes, and The Darkest Part of the Forest on my shelf - looking forward to reading all of them! :)

So jealous you've got Darkest Part of the Forest!!! It looks amazing and the cover is beyond gorgeous

  24. Winter - YES! I absolutely love the Lunar Chronicles series and I know you do too, so I can't see what Marissa has up her sleeve for the final installment, and I hope we both end up enjoying it!

Dreams of Gods and Monsters - I'm actually buddy-reading Daughter of Smoke & Bone with Cait right now, and am absolutely loving it so far! I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

In the After Light - I read The Darkest Minds a while ago and liked it a lot, but for some reason I never read book 2, even though I plan on it; but I hope they're both just as good as the first.

Thanks for sharing Allie, and great choices! <3

    1. Ohhh I'm so glad you two are finally reading that! It's been a long time coming, dude! I am taking full credit for this (mostly Cait, because I pestered her so much it was ridiculous ^.^).

The Darkest Minds was so good, but I have to say book 2 dragged a little in some parts. I think that was mostly because the gang was all split up and stuff. But I know book 3 will be awesome!

  26. You have to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters ASAP, Allie! I have to chain myself on my reading chair to finish it (might or might not be true) but it was worth it. I can't wait for more Raffe too! I've only ever read The Darkest Minds but I'm going to catch up soonish. Also, I've been meaning to read The Archived for the longest time.

I probably should start with Maggie Stiefvater first because everyone I know loves her writing and her books. (:

    1. I know, I know! I want to, but the hardcover is so pricey and doesn't match my current collection and the paperback isn't out for ages yet :( I'M SO CONFLICTED.

You really should start with Maggie's books. Begin with The Raven Boys because it is magical!

  27. Ugh, absolute YES to Winter. I love Marissa Meyer, I love Cinder and Kai and Scarlet and Wolf and Cress and Thorne AND I WANT TO READ MORE OF THAT GODDAMN WORLD AND STORY. Like seriously, I don't ever get this obssessed often (okay... maybe I do lol) but that series is just so insanely awesome and I am wishing 2015 was here already. *le sigh*
