Waiting For These Sequels Is Eating My Soul {Top Ten Tuesday}

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, where we get to reveal our top ten of whatever they chose as the weekly topic! Click here for a list of future topics.

This week's topic is sequels that I cannot wait to get my hands on. Or, as I like to think of them, sequels that are eating my soul while I wait. As if the first book ending wasn't torture enough, now I have to be grown-up and do that patience thing until the next one? COME ON.

The Raven Cycle #4
Maggie Stiefvater
You guys know how much this series controls my life. Or how much Gansey controls my life. Glue, guys. It's real. And it's killing me with feels. And then the rest of my raven boys, with their anger and their terrible pasts and their smudged faces. I just can't.

Girl of Nightmares
Kendare Blake
The sequel to Anna Dressed in Blood sounds so intense. The first book was deliciously creepy, and I can't wait to see how Kendare Blake tops that. I've heard whispers of a suicide forest and so, you know, NEED THIS NOW.

Throne of Glass #4
Sarah J Maas
Heir of Fire completely crushed me. MY SHIP, GUYS. MY SHIP. And that bromantic, yet also completely gut-wrenching ending? I'm convinced Sarah lives to torture us. Or me, at least. How am I expected to wait for this?

The Archived #3
Victoria Schwab
I don't know if Schwab was trying to give me a nervous breakdown with the ending to The Unbound, but she did and now I'm salivating until the next book is in my hands. A library where the dead are stored? It can't get more awesome.

Long Way Down
Krista and Becca Ritchie
The seventh book in the Addicted series, the fourth Calloway Sisters novel and the second edition in Ryke and Daisy's story . . . THIS WILL BE BEYOND EPIC. You guys should know by now that Raisy is my OTP. They're wonderful and wild and they bring the swoon every damn time. I am beyond excited to see what happens next with one of my favourite fictional couples!

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4)
Marissa Meyer
Winter is coming (yeah, I went there). This series, you guys. It's legit the best bunch of fairytale re-tellings/re-imaginings I've ever read, with a group of ragtag heroes and heroines who are snarky and tough and way too loveable in their complex bad-assery.

End of Days (Penryn #3)
Susan Ee
Beyond creepy parents and siblings, beyond crazy angels flying about killing people, a beyond awesome heroine being bad-ass, and a BEYOND SEXY RAFFE? Yeah. Bring on this book.

P.S. I Still Love You
Jenny Han
To All the Boys wasn't what I expected, but I loved it anyway. It was cute and sweet and just what I needed in the moment. I'm ridiculously excited to see how Jenny Han is going to continue the story.

The Fifth Wave #3
Rick Yancey
The Infinite Sea totally surpassed the first book in my opinion and I loved getting a closer look at other characters besides Cassie (because she's unbearable these days). Ringer led this book to victory, with how tough and powerful she was (and then became). And Ben too, because Ben is always fantastic and fearless and I ship him with everybody.

Of Dreams and Rust
Sarah Fine
Fine is a writing machine. She slayed my heart with the ending to Of Metal and Wishes. As someone who was not a fan of Phantom of the Opera, her completely unique re-telling just blew me away and gave the story a whole new dimension. Steam-punk, mixed with dystopia, mixed with ghosts and forbidden romance? GIVE ME MORE.

Don't you agree that WE NEED THOSE COVERS ASAP? What sequels are eating your soul while you wait for them to do silly things, like be written?

Allie is a Pimm's-obsessed reader, who dreams of road tripping over America, learning to surf & becoming fluent in all the languages of her heritage (which, sadly, does not include Elvish). If she's not reading or blogging, you can find her catching up on Teen Wolf, or reigning supreme with Scrabble/Mario Kart. Stalk her on twitter, instagram or goodreads.

  1. RAVEN CYCLE RAVEN CYCLE RAVEN CYCLE. It's all my mind can think of right now. I'm desperate. I fear for young Gansey's life. The poor boy. AND I NEED THAT ANGELFALL THING BECAUSE...RAFFE. And that banter.

Ummmmm I feel the peer pressure with the Addicted series now. I mean Lily and Siiri and YOU TOO?! Maybe I should get back to finishing the first book asap....

    1. End of Days will be epic. I'm wondering if it's the last one? I keep seeing that it is, but then there's a book four and five on Goodreads. CONFUSING

  10. This is a great list—though for myself I'm just going to wait and pine for Marissa Meyer to hurry up and publish Winter already because that really outshines anything else I want to read right now. XD Good luck getting through your reading list ASAP!

  11. OH MY GOD. THAT ENDING OF HEIR OF FIRE. DORIAN. CHAOL. YOU POOR LITTLE MITES. *plots plan to kidnap them to safety* I am literally going to scream. Grr. I hate being so emotionally invested in books. Dang it. It's torturous.
Yes to Maggie Stiefvater. I'm still waiting on her faery book 3 too. As well as more Raven Cycle. >.>

    1. THAT ENDING WAS DESIGNED TO SHATTER MY HEART. I JUST CAN'T. And Chaol's speech about Dorian being the true king? GOD, THE BROMANCE. And what happened with everyone else? I want them all safe, damn it!

  12. I just need Blue Lily already...I am going crazy without it. And I want to read so many of these sequels...well, I assume I do. I need to read Anna Dressed in Blood, Crown of Midnight (and Heir of Fire), The Archived, Cinder (and Scarlet and Cress), Angelfall (and World After?), To All the Boys I've Loved Before, The Infinite Sea and Of Metal and Wishes first....ACK! SO MANY BOOKS. NOT ENOUGH TIME.

    1. Do read Crown and Heir of Fire. Honestly, I thought Throne of Glass was just okay, but after reading Crown I was BEYOND ADDICTED. And then Heir of Fire just destroyed me with the feels and, God. Dude, you need to read them!

  13. Winter: YES, YES, YES, YES! SO excited for this one - I can't wait to see how this series ends and how the Snow White fairytale is incorporated into this one.

Throne of Glass #4: The end of Heir of Fire destroyed my soul too Allie! *cries* I can't wait to see how the story continues and how everything works out.

The Fifth Wave #3: The Fifth Wave and The Infinite Sea were both a bit mediocre for me, but I'm holding onto the hope that the 3rd installment is strong. And, even if it isn't, the concept is still fabulous, right? ;)

Of Dreams and Rust: WAIT! THERE'S A SEQUEL FOR THIS?!? And there's already a cover and synopsis? *mind blown* Definitely need to get a copy of this. While I wasn't the biggest fan of Of Metal and Wishes, I still liked it enough to want a copy of this one to see how everything continues!

Thanks for sharing Allie, and fabulous choices! <3

    1. It's so weird to think of it finally ending. WINTER WILL BE THE LAST ONE, WHAT IS HAPPENING? Marissa's awesome spin on Snow White is going to blow the original story out of the water, I can tell.

Heir of Fire *sobs* my precious little fictional beauties are all sad and in danger and it needs to be fixed!

YES THERE'S A SEQUEL FOR METAL AND WISHES!!!! I'm so excited, because that ending with them reunited was the biggest tease. Need. More. Now!

  14. Okay I basically have all of these on my list, but ToG4 is my number one forever! And then it'll be book 5... and then book 6... And then oh my god it will be over O_O Can't handle it.

And I'm also terrified for the last Raven Cycle book. I'm not ready for that thing to happen to Gansey...

    1. No, no, no, no. It won't be over. Shhhh, don't even think it. Let's live in denial together.

AND GANSEY WILL BE FINE. My heart can't take him not being.

Oh, God. These books will be the death of me

  15. These are great! In fact, a lot of them are on my list (not today's but the one in my head!) but I had issues because they didn't have covers, and well, I have problems ;) But YES to Penryn #3, my goodness, I have wanted that for so, so long! AND, PS I Still Love you! I need it! Also, you are reaaaalllly making me want to read Of Metal and Wishes (which I have, it is like, begging me to read it!) so I must, soon! GREAT list!

    1. Yeah, the lack of covers is a pet peeve, but I couldn't not put them on because FEELS. I just hope the covers live up to my expectations when they're finally revealed.

  16. I read Girl of Nightmares ages ago and it was... it was... TT__TT I have no words for that ending, girl. No words.

Is it weird that I don't have a ship in the ToG series? .__.

I always thought that The Archived was a duology and was shocked when I first saw that there was going to be a third book! I neeeeeeed it.

Long Way Down will be fantastic, but still... FUEL THE FIRE FIRST. *grabby hands* I need more Coballoway!

    Winter! Gimme more Thorne, please.

Not sure if I want to read PS. I Still Love You. To All the Boys was pretty much just a so-so read for me. ;(

I NEED TO READ OF METAL AND WISHES. T_T

    Awesome picks, Allie. ;)

    1. DON'T TEASE ME WITH YOUR ENDING FEELS. I'm reading it next after Cure for Dreaming and I can't wait. I want more Anna creepiness!

You should have a ship for ToG. And it should be Chaol and Celaena. Or Chaol and Dorian, whichever ;)

Yeeees, it's a trilogy. But the third book seems a little up in the air. I don't know when, if ever, it'll come out :( SADNESS

Ahh, you and Siiri with your Connor and Rose love. I adore them too but BUT RAISY. Raisy win at completely taking over my life.

Winter needs to give me more Kai and Cinder. I've waited four books for them!!

And Metal and Wishes is going to be so cool because REUNION.

<33333 Ahhh, I'm so excited for everything!

  18. So many great sequels here!
End of Days - oh man, I'm gonna need someone to hold me when I read this. WILL MY OTP SURVIVE?! I am already mentally preparing myself for them to separate at the end. D:
Winter - This is, like, my #1 of the year. I NEED THIS BOOK. I NEED MY SHIPS. Wolf <3
The Raven Cycle 4 - I literally just finished binging the first three books and OMG GLUE. They are everything. And Ronan!!!!! I am already dying for book 4.

    1. I need them to actually start before they start ripping my heart out. COME ON, RAFFE. JUST KISS HER ALREADY.

Glue is going to destroy my soul. Kim has just started reading Dream Thieves and she's already being tortured by Glue feels. IT'S INSANE. They're breaking my heart with all this tension
