Sisters of the World, Assemble!

After being pressured tagged by Kim @ Book Munchies and Cait @ Paper Fury I have decided to do the Sisterhood tag. Completely independent choice that has nothing at all to do with peer pressure. Honest. (I kid, I love you guys!)

Guidelines (AKA Rules Made to be Broken)
1. Thank the blogger that nominated you and link back to their website (check)
2. Post the award’s logo on your blog (check)
3. Answer the questions you have been asked
(I am far too lazy to answer twenty questions, so I've pick 'n' mixed eleven. I'm such a rebel.)
 4. Nominator ten other bloggers and ask them ten other questions (Again, I'm lazy so, uhm, I nominate you all and you can answer the below too. That's not cheating, right?)

What was the last 5-star book you read?

That honour has to go to The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons because it had everything I could have possibly wanted.

The cover is just gorgeous (we know I'm shallow like that), the world-building was insanely detailed, and the characters were shiny and three-dimensional.

Not to mention a certain love story between a prisoner and a guy who couldn't talk. It was magic.

How many books did you challenge yourself to this year?

I went for the big 100 this year, and I made it through! I've been totally slacking this month though because CAN YOU BELIEVE I HAVEN'T EVEN READ FIVE BOOKS YET?

Seriously. Not. It's an end-of-the-year slump like no other.

What was your favourite 2014 book-to-movie adaptation?

I absolutely loved The Fault in Our Stars and Maze Runner, but The Book Thief stole the show for me this year.

I know it was released quite a while ago in America, but it only came out in February for us, and when I saw it I was blown away.

It completely broke my heart into pieces and we all know that when something can touch even my cold heart, it has to be a definite winner!

If you had the power to demand a book-to-movie adaptation, which book would you choose?

I don't think my love for The Raven Cycle is any secret, so if I had the chance to see this epic story on the big screen, I'd fangirl my little heart out.

I've heard rumours of a TV series in the making, so let's hope that's a go because OH DEAR GOD GANSEY IN THE FLESH. GIVE ME NOW.

Are you the only reader in your family, or do you come from a tribe of bookworms?

My family aren't really big readers. Except my brother, he's a bit of a bookish dude.

Saying that, my mum did just buy a kindle to keep her occupied when we're in Mexico. Which I found hilarious. Especially since she's just been downloading a bunch of freebie historical romances. And when she did actually buy some books, she got so excited that she burst into my room to tell me. It was adorable.

Do you have any non-bookish hobbies?

Why, yes, I do! Surprisingly, books are not my entire life. I know, IT'S CRAZY!

I actually really love to bake, and spend my weekends trying out new desserts on my family. They're good sports about it, mostly because anyone is a good sport about having cake all the time.

I also write, which you guys know! And my novel is in the finishing stages now and I cannot contain my excitement about it.

Which 2014 book floored you (good or bad)?

Heir of Fire was a definite winner for me this year. It was probably the best book I read in 2014, which is saying something since this was the year of Dreams of Gods & Monsters and Blue Lily, Lily Blue!

I cannot begin to explain how emotionally drained I was at the end of Heir of Fire, except to say: my feels were absolutely slaughtered. Sarah J Maas clearly lives to torture us all!

Which book just didn't live up to the hype?

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20821111-the-young-elitesI really did not get what the big deal was about The Young Elites by Marie Lu. I saw so many beyond wonderful reviews by bloggers who I have very similar tastes to and yet . . . nothing. When I finished I just felt a bit blank in the feels department.

I think it may just be that Marie Lu and I aren't a good match. I didn't enjoy Legend either, so I don't think it's a case of them being bad books, but just a case of me not meshing with the writing style. Oh well. Onwards!

Any TV shows you're beyond addicted to?

Addicted? I think obsessed may be a better word! These shows are my favourites right now and I just cannot get enough of them:

Which fictional character would be your best buddy?

I think Karou and I would rule the world together. I mean, really. Our humour is so similar and if I was friends with Karou, then it would also mean I got to be friends with Zuzana and Mik and how adorable would that be?

I'd have to try and keep my hands off Akiva though, which could make things awkward. But if Karou let me keep my teeth, I suppose I could let her keep her man.

See? Friends make compromises!

Which 2015 release are you most looking forward to?

There are so many sequels to books I'm excited for, like The Raven Cycle #4, Winter, and Long Way Down.

But putting those aside, if we're talking about shiny new releases, then I think A Court of Thorns & Roses and The Darkest Part of the Forest, both steal the show for me.

Plus, look how pretty those covers are!

So which 2015 book are you salivating for? Do you dare to have any hobbies outside of reading? Which book would you love to see on the big screen? Let me know in the comments!

Allie is excited to read far too many books in 2015, but she hopes they can live up to the amazing things she read this year. If not, she's going to have to eat a lot more cake to comfort herself. But probably, she'll do that anyway.

  1. Ooh I used to LOVE Teen Wolf. Season 2 and 3 were so freaking amazing, but season 4 was pretty bleh, tbh. I also watch Reign! I'm a bit behind at the moment because I'm caught on VMars, but I'll have to get back to it these holidays. Also, you are totally killing that reading challenge. I am like...15 books behind? Hah. I've lost all hope. <.<

  2. I am so obsessed with Teen Wolf at this moment it's embarrassing. Come on, Cait, no shame, no shame. They're cute little psycho werewolves.
Aaaanyway. You little rebel. Breaking all the rules. I'm so proud. :')
OMG BUT DID YOU JUST SAY A TV SERIES OF RAVEN BOYS? BECAUSE I THINK MY HEART JUST EXPLODED. JFADKSL THAT WOULD BE THE BEST THING OF THE WORLD! YES! YES! YES!

    1. There is no shame because STILES. Nothing to do with Stiles could ever be shameful, Cait. And this makes me love you SO MUCH MORE.

Yes!!!!! I was informed via twitter of this magic. I hope it's true because oh dear God I can't even. My heart will break through my chest!!!!

  3. I'm SO EXCITED FOR A REAL LIFE GANSEY BUT SCARED BECAUSE WHAT IF THEY RUIN HIM, ALLIE????? WHAT WILL I DO WITH LIFE????

YOU'RE AN ARROW FAN??? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT?? You're making me love you even more, ok <3

OH I wish my family were enthusiastic about eating my food. They're just weary about everything that I make. Cake does not excite them. I think the fear of food poisoning has cast a heavy shadow over all positives. So ungrateful. Look at all these baked goods I come bearing!

    1. THEY CAN'T RUIN HIM. NO. DON'T SAY IT. HE WILL BE PERFECT BECAUSE GANSEY CAN'T NOT BE PERFECT. Fact.

Yes to Arrow. DUH. Olicity, man. MY SHIP.

Haha your baking makes me laugh. Maybe I should've put a brownie in your Christmas card?

  4. Teen Wolf and The Walking Dead. Awesome! I used to watch Reign and then stopped, don't know why though LOL I want to watch The Flash but I need to catch up with Arrow because of all the crossovers. I wanna be prepared so I need to wait.
Oh, and I agree about The Book Thief. There were some scenes from the book I wish could have been into the movie (the Jewish parade was but Max wasn't and I was sad about that) but it was an amazing adaptation in my opinion

    1. There's only been one cross-over so far (two if you count Barry's intro in the Arrow), but yeah I think catching up on Arrow first is best, so then you fully know everything that's going on :D

  5. I love this tag, how fun! Thanks for doing it and letting us get to know you better. I am so excited for the Maas and Black books as well!

  6. I feel like I dropped the ball with TV shows. Everyone keeps telling me to watch Arrow and Teen Wolf, but I'm always like "books~". LOL.

BUT. If Raven Cycle were to get a TV show, I'd be all on that in a hot second. BECAUSE GANSEY. That needs to happen now. You got my hopes up and everything!

  7. AMERICAN HORROR STORY!
Yay Allie watches GOOD TV! I was worried for a bit ;)
ACOTAR is definitely one of my most anticipated reads for 2014 too and seeing Gansey in the flesh is my new 2015 resolution. I WILL GO AS FAR AS MAKING IT HAPPEN IF I NEED TO.

  8. The only one I watch out of that lot is The Walking Dead. I've marathoned The 100 in the last few weeks, after they cancelled Revolution, so I needed another series to get into. I'm actually reading The Raven Boys at the moment and it's not too bad. I get the Gansey appeal. Whoa mumma!

Thanks for sharing Allie and sorry to hear about your reading slump, but you've killed the Goodreads challenge, so it evens out <3 Thanks so much for sharing poppet.

  9. I like the show Shameless too, though I haven't really seen a full season. I've tried to watch some stuff via Youtube. hah
As for hobbies outside of reading, GASP! Lol I do too though. I really like to dance and I'm currently in a hip hop class this year. I did tap and jazz last year, but they are still looking for a new teacher (I hope I can do that again soon though, because I really fell in love with tap).

I like to write too- but I have been slacking on that all year. I like to be creative- DIY stuff, like scrapbooking and making people gifts.

    1. Shameless is so good! I actually don't like the UK version, which makes me a traitor to my country (LOL). But the US is just so much better IMO.

DIY stuff is my thing too :D I'm always making my own products or life hacks

  10. MY COMMENT DISAPPEARED.
    What the eff.

    Now I must start again.

YAY FOR GLASS ARROW. I need to read that and am super excited to so I am glad you enjoyed it so much, Allie <3

Also I don't know who I should move in with anymore. You or Siiri. You both bake so many goodies and I wants them all.

I actually haven't read Young Elites so I cannot say much about that but I did like Legend? I didn't like Prodigy as much though. Bleh. I'll read it someday.

ALSO I am keeping Gansey thank you very much. Now I'd appreciate if you slowly backed off and got yourself some other hunk <3

I am soo excited for The Darkest Part of the Forest! It sounds deliciously creepy and I WANTS.

Bleh, This comment wasn't as enthusiastic as I wanted it to be since my FIRST ONE got deleted. Bah humbug.

On a side note, I like to bake too! I am just not as good at it as you and Siiri are :P

As for which 2015 book I am salivating for. I don't even know. I just want all of them :')

    1. THE CASE OF THE DISAPPEARING COMMENT: PART ONE ;)

I think there doesn't need to be a choice. Me AND Siiri would be the ultimate roommate combination. You'd love us both with our baking and general awesomeness.

Just, uhm, yeah . . . not happening with the Gansey thing. Don't make me end our friendship because MINE. I'll let you have Adam *shoves him at you* ENJOY THE WHINING.

Your comment is lovely because you are so SHHH or my blog might eat this one too! ;)

  12. Oh, this was fun! Good for you for having hobbies. I think books are kind of it right now, only because I don't even have time for THIS hobby, let alone another. I do enjoy traveling and swimming, but I can't really do either at the moment. I like to take pictures too, though lately it has been mostly pictures of books. Hmm.

The Darkest Part of the Forest is GOOD! I am salivating for pretty much EVERY book I stumble upon, it isn't good. I think I have set my expectations too high. As for movies... this is tough, because in truth, I just keep wanting to watch The Hunger Games over and over. I think Rites of Passage by Joy N Hensley would make a great movie though! And the Unwind series (which I think IS in development).

And I feel you on The Young Elites!

    1. Pictures of books are the best kind, so keep at it! <33

I haven't seen Mocking Jay yet! I need to get on that, because I've heard it's amazing, but I can never seem to find the time. LIFE, MAN. Always in the way.

I haven't read Rites of Passage before! Or the Unwind series. I'm so clueless haha

  13. I love this tag, will definitely be doing this one myself. YAY! Thank god I wasn't the only person who didn't get The Young Elites. Also so excited to read A Court of Thorns and Roses. I've finally started watching Teen Wolf and am just starting season 2. I LOVE STILES, that guy is hilarious. I just wish the Allyson/Scott romance wasn't so overdone and cheesy. The Book Thief movie adaption was so good, that movie had me crying so much it was embarrassing. They did a brilliant job!

    1. Stiles is one of my favourite things in the world. JUST WAIT UNTIL SEASON 3. I can't even tell you how much you're going to love him! (And don't worry about Alison / Scott, that whole situation gets a lot better IMO)

  14. Ooh, seeing you give The Glass Arrow 5/5 makes me NEED IT EVEN MORE. Congratulations on your reading challenge! I made 100, too. :) The beginning of December was really good for me, reading wise, but now I think I've entered that end-of-year slump, too. YES. RAVEN CYCLE TV SHOW, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.Ooh, I love to bake, too.

    1. Well done to us! It is quite the achievement since last year I only managed 80 or so, as it was my first year blogging etc. It's odd to think it's only been a year since everything started!

  15. Okay that's it, I've decided my road trip series away is going to be the first two books of the Raven Cycle. I can't hold off any longer! I've heard great things about Arrow and Flash, going to get into those TV shows next and I'm so glad you are a fellow walking dead fan. I loved the Originals but got over TVD.

You did incredibly well for your GR challenge, even though you are slumping it majorly this month! Well done lovely!

  16. I'm about to do this one really soon because Val @ Innocent Smiley tagged me! She answered like forty questions I think, so I'll attempt to do those as well... note the "attempt", not sure I'll be able to finish them all as i can be distracted easily :P

I tried reading Marie Lu's THE YOUNG ELITES and like you, I just couldn't get into it for some reason. I miss her LEGEND trilogy because I was so engaged in that one, but her recent one... ugh, I don't know, I'd read a few pages and then set it down to watch TV. It's THAT bad.

And Karou is awesome! I like art and creativity and I think her and I will mesh quite well :) I mean, I'm probably not as good and as creative as her, but I'd kill to watch her do her thang and just learn and absorb stuff from her. Surely, spending time with someone so talented would rub some of their awesomness on you, right?

And Flash! I really need to start that one. I wanted to do weekly recaps of the show on my blog, but alas, when it premiered I was bedridden so I wasn't able to get to it. I heard it's really good, though.

    1. Forty? LOL DEAR GOD. Have fun with that! You're a better woman than me.

At least you loved Legend. I couldn't get into that one either LOL. I think Marie Lu and I are just not meant to be.

I'm nowhere near as creative as Karou, especially artistically because I CAN'T DRAW STICK MEN. Like, seriously, my drawings are beyond atrocious. It's pretty embarrassing.

Flash is good! It's no Arrow, but I love Barry's character

  17. I used to watch Teen Wolf and Arrow like a madman, not sure what happened. Currently held up with Sherlock and Doctor Who.

The Young Elites was an okay-ish read for me, but I definitely get why it wasn't all that impressive. v.v I'm among the minority (?) that hasn't read The Raven Cycle yet, but I should probably get 'round to reading it soon..AND AH, A Court of Thorns and Roses, look how beautiful it is!

Oh Kim tagged me too haha. Here's my post of it, if you're interested!

  20. You totally smashed your reading challenge, whooo! How many do you think you're going for this year? :) The Rave Cycle onscreen YES. That NEEDS to happen. Heir of Fire!!!!! Throne of Glass is the best series I've started this year, the wait for #4 though. :( I've been addicted to Once Upon a Time and Sleepy Hollow this year, and since everyone is loving Teen Wolf, I'll have to watch it this year. :) So excited for A Court of Thorns and Roses and The Darkest Part of the Forest too, and really looking forward to The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West. I used to draw a lot, but it's been taking a back seat lately (mainly to reading). I'd love to see Splintered by A.G. Howard on screen, that would be a rather crazier Wonderland.

    1. I'm going for the 150 this year! So let's hope I achieve that. I think by the end of December, I came in at juuuust under that, so it should be achievable. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully. One year, I'm hoping to be able to aim for 200. Maybe next year!

You must watch TW because STILES. Dylan O'Brien is everything <3
