The Girl at Midnight {Waiting on Wednesday}

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, where we get to reveal which books we're too impatient to wait any longer for and why!

Beneath the streets of New York live the Avicen, an ancient race of people with feathers for hair and magic in their veins. Age-old enchantments keep them hidden from all humans but one: Echo, a runaway pickpocket who survives by selling stolen treasures on the black market. The Avicen are the only family she's ever known, so when a centuries-old war crests on the borders of her home, she decides it's time to act. Legend has it that to end the conflict once and for all someone must find the Firebird, a mythical entity believed to possess great power. It's no easy task, but if being a thief has taught Echo anything, it's how to take what she wants. But some jobs aren't as straightforward as they seem and this one might just set the world on fire.

How amazing does that sound? An underground race with feathers for hair and a mission to find a mythical creature and, oh yeah, a heroine who has the potential to be an amazing anti-hero!

This book is at the top of my 2015 TBR and April cannot come fast enough.

Is The Girl at Midnight on your TBR? What other new releases are you most excited for this year?

Allie thinks that 2015 is going to be a year for epic fantasies. Her wish list is brimming with them and she's excited to get sucked into more magical worlds that will set her fangirl senses afire. She only hopes her bank account is willing to cooperate. After all, it would be rude for it not to.

  1. This one does sound amazing, although for some reason the features and the magic reminds me of DoSaB!

    1. I get what you mean about that – a girl taken in by other wordly creatures full of magic and stuff. It's similar, but different enough to draw me in!

  2. I WANT THIS BOOK SO MUCH I'VE BEEN EYEING IT FOR MONTHS. Sometimes I wish I didn't know about upcoming releases. Because then I wouldn't be sitting here wanting things that I can't have (lol I kid, what would I do without this want)

  4. YESSSS! The cover, I was really iffy about but the summary sounds EXCELLENT! I would need a lot of worldbuilding for it to work for me, but seriously, this sounds so epic.

  8. The Girl at Midnight IS on my TBR, along with every other book that has been or is scheduled to be published ;) But seriously, I DO want to read this one for sure! I mean, first, the cover! And I kind of love basically anything involving a race, so I am in! Great pick, I hope you love it!

  14. I need more anti-heroes and anti-heroines. I think there is a lot of room for development in that department that hasn't been explored yet in YA, and it would be awesome to see how it will go! I haven't read this book yet so I'll add it to my TBR.

    I never had any doubts that Maas would be able to pull her strings again and churn out a wonderful, vivid, and fantastic book~ I already pre-ordered this one and I can't wait to get my hands on it! I wish its release date would come sooner!

    1. Definitely. There's not many good BAD people out there. I need anti-heroines I can root for, not perfect amalgamations of every Mary Sue cliche. Celaena is a good anti-heroine though, but she's one of the few there is!
